Mark Farrow and Brett Benton are two Tulsa entrepreneurs who love the business of business.
Mark owned a piece of property he was looking to develop and heard Brett was addicted to Pickleball. Mark approached Brett about partnering to open a pickleball club. He had been told that pickleball was “America’s fastest growing sport.”
Brett was introduced to Pickleball while on vacation in Arizona. After two beginners clinics, he was hooked.
Upon returning to Tulsa, Brett was frustrated by the lack of places to play. Where did the Tulsa community gather to play pickleball? Where were the indoor courts with outdoor surfaces, free of cracks and free-throw lines?
Mark and Brett soon learned that demand for quality, pure pickleball courts greatly exceeded supply.
As they set out to solve this problem, they were introduced to James Moore.
Now they had a captain for the ship they wanted to build. James came to Tulsa from California and brought his love for pickleball with him. A pickleball coach and an avid player, James was frustrated by the lack of court availability as well. He set out to find partners to and spent two years pitching his ideas to no avail. During these two years, James became well-known in the pickleball community having worked as Director of Pickleball at RH91 and Lifetime Fitness. Business, addiction and community unite at TOPSEED Pickleball.
Our club is built on the following principles:
- Community- Where Tulsa gathers to play and socialize
- Inclusion- All skill levels are welcome
- No court fees- The more you play the less it costs per hour
- Always drop-in play- Play when you want to play. Not when you can round up three friends and find a court available
- Programming is key to member enjoyment– Ladders, leagues and tournaments
